Aloft Manhattan Downtown – My favorite hotel in NYC

Whenever I go to New York, I always book at the Aloft Manhattan Downtown. It’s my favorite place to stay. It’s colorful, modern and has young vibe. From the music in the lobby, to the art on the walls, this hotel is exactly what I like.

It’s one of the only hotels I know in NYC to offer rooms with Queen size beds (most hotels in the city have double beds or King size) so when you are plus size and sharing a room with your besties, you know you won’t be squished against your friends butt all night long, tossing and turning with him/her.  (Uh-hum, Full Figured Fashion Week and CurvyCon attendees.. Been there: 2 plus size beauties in a double bed.. Nah-huh!) The beds are so comfortable, with their soft and fluffy pillows… It’s like sleeping in a TV advertisement for flu medicine. (Is it me, or the people in those tv commercials always seem to have the best bed with 10 000 fluffy pillows around them!)

The rooms are large, modern and stylish. The restrooms have a small sink, with a large mirror above. You also have another large mirror on the bathroom door, so ladies, you can dress and do your makeup without monopolizing all the mirror space. There are no bath tubs, but there’s a large shower in every room.

The Aloft Manhattan Downtown is a young and fresh hotel, and it’s pet friendly (yay!!!). The staff is very helpful, and polite so don’t hesitate to ask if you are looking for the best pizza around, or the closest subway station.

There is no restaurant inside, but there is a space in the lobby with food and beverages (soft drinks, juices, beers, iced teas…). Every morning, I went down to the lobby to get a coffee and drank it in the bar/chill room. It was quiet, so I had time to read my emails (FREE WIFI by the way!) and talk with my friends, before starting the day.

The location is near Fulton Center (with a lot of subway lines options), and it’s a walking distance from the Charging Bull and Fearless Girl statues, from the spectacular Oculus and the 9/11 Memorial. In this area, you can also find the famous Century21, a large department store with discounts on luxury brands – check out their purse section….

Next time you are going to NYC, check if the Aloft Manhattan Downtown has a room available.

Oh, and if you are driving to New York, there is a friendly parking place JUST BESIDE the Aloft Manhattan Downtown.. just sayin’!  😉

** The pictures I took of the room I stayed in were not good enough, so I took pictures from the Aloft Manhattan Downtown website to show you exactly how it was. **
